The business model of software architects is to earn money primarily by selling software licenses. Of course the company offers professional services around her products directly to a certain extent. However, software architects' goal is to find consulting partners who concentrate on delivering services. The company is and will be in the business of COTS software development! This leads to the fact that software architects is not able to give away all solutions for free and cannot offer her code under an open source license.
Nevertheless the founders of software architects have been very committed to an "open company principle". This means that software architects openly shares ideas, product- and project-plans, software design principles and large parts of the source code with the community of customers and partners. The company will offer "light and free" versions of commercial products for certain user groups (e.g. private use, single user versions, etc.). The overall goal is to share as many of our intellectual assets without compromising the financial success of our business model.
